Today, eBay has tens of millions of registered users located in all parts of the world. Also, it turns out that people spend more time on eBay than any other online site, making it the most popular shopping area on the Internet!

You probably guessed it. This is the largest and easiest market place to sell your goods and services with EXTREMELY low startup costs. Plus, it doesn’t’t take very long to figure it out!

That being said … your first task is to go signup at eBay as a registered eBay user, its free. Go here: Sign up for a FREE eBay account here

When you register as a new user, you will have to set up your unique user id. I suggest that you select something easy to remember so that people can easily use the eBay member search tool to find you.

Selecting an eBay user id … this is important!

Also, try to make your user id as descriptive as possible. For example, if you plan on selling toys for kids … then you could use: toys4kids, toys_for_kids, toys_4_kids, toys*4*kids … ect.

Another little trick to get double exposure to your web site (if you have one), is to use your web site name as your user id as follows: **yourwebsite**, make sure to include the asterisks on either side … that helps it stand out a little. Then on every single auction listing, response email, and feedback description that you send, you are generating indirectly advertising for your web site.

Unfortunately, eBay has some strict rules for selecting your user id. They do not want email addresses or full web addresses in your id. In other words, they do not want you to put “.com” in your user id. To learn more about what you can do with your User ID go here.

And more traffic can mean more money, especially if the clients are interested in your products from your web site … ie targeting traffic!

If you do not have a web site, then try to think of a user id that would be a good web site name. OR … better yet, try to integrate top searched keywords into your user id. Therefore, when people search for members by user id using keywords .. then you will come up in the results. You can go to the eBay Pulse section to see all the top popular search terms.

Another option you have is to simply create some generic user id such as your name, company name … whatever you want. Then change it any time in the future. eBay let’s you change you user id when ever you want.

A great way to choose a user id is to find a domain name that is available and go purchase that domain name before you even register for ebay. Why, so that you have the domain name when you are ready to have your own web site … and trust me … you WILL have a web site. Especially if you follow my lessons. This is where you will start making REAL money!

Getting a domain name is only $8.88 at www.namecheap.com. I have over 10 domain names in my account.

When you are trying to figure out what kind of domain name to select … use this very handy website: www.instantdomainsearch.com … it’s really fast and fun to use! It tells you if the domain name is available while you are typing.

If you are having difficulties trying to think of different words to put in your domain name and user id. Try using the online thesaurus: http://thesaurus.reference.com

For example … let’s say you are interested in selling digital products on eBay such as audio’s, videos, ebooks .. ect. Here are a few suggestions:

• TheDigitalResevoir
• DigitalProducts4You
• EbooksandMoreStuff
• DigitalProductHouse

I just tried those at the Instant Domain Search website and they are still available at the time I wrote this lesson.

So the idea is to run over to NameCheap and grab your domain name, then use your domain name without the ‘www.’ and ‘.com’ parts as your ebay user id.
